At a roughly 400-year-old farmhouse near Assen, where deer wander through the garden, the Ancient Mother Healing Center brings two plant medicines together over four days: ayahuasca and huachuma, better known as San Pedro. The group is kept deliberately small – no more than eleven guests – supported by a close-knit team of four experienced guides. Host Margriet trained in the Shipibo tradition in Peru and has, by her own account, led more than 2,000 ceremonies.
The days follow a calm rhythm rather than a packed timetable: between the two evening ayahuasca ceremonies there is room for walks, journaling, meditation and breathwork. The retreat closes with a daytime huachuma ceremony of around twelve hours, which many describe as grounding and connecting. Guests sleep together in the ceremony hall on thick mattresses – intentionally without Wi-Fi or distractions. Anyone arriving by train is picked up free of charge from Assen station.
